Who We Are

The Pet Assistance League (PAL) is a non-profit organization that helps find homes for displaced and abandoned animals, primarily cats and dogs. Founded in 1986, the league has helped thousands of animals find permanent homes with caring families.

PAL is run by a small and dedicated staff whose primary responsibilities include animal care, and adoptions.

Our PAL volunteers provide adoption services for homeless pets in the Washington DC Metro area, and in Northern Virginia. Adoptive families for PAL pets have been found in many East Coast states. PAL animals are displayed for adoption at the PETSMART store located in Prince William County, near the Potomac Mills shopping center in Woodbridge, Virginia. A map of the location is available here.

Pet Assistance League volunteers bring adoptable pets looking for new homes to the store each Saturday from noon to six throughout the year. As well, a Luv-A-Pet adoption center is found in the store where cats and kittens may be adopted throughout each week during normal PETSMART store operating hours.
